Woodside Start Pipeline Track
The Pipeline Loop – A Classic Hills Adventure
Start: Woodside Bakery, High Street
Finish: Gumeracha Hotel
Distance: ~250 km |
Elevation: up to 600 m
Surface: Mostly gravel and clay with short bitumen links
Ride Overview
Rolling out from the Woodside Bakery, the Pipeline Loop is a true South Australian day ride — scenic, relaxed, and just challenging enough to keep your attention. Travelling in an anti-clockwise direction, the route rises through rolling farmland and bush, topping out at around 600 metres above sea level before winding its way back down toward Gumeracha, where a well-earned cold one awaits.
With minimal sealed sections, this loop keeps the adventure alive from start to finish. The track varies with the seasons — dry and dusty in summer, slippery and playful after rain — giving returning riders a different flavour every time.
Mid-Ride Stop
The Angaston Bakery makes for a perfect lunch stop. Expect good coffee, hearty country fare, and a friendly chat or two with fellow riders. It’s the kind of place where time slows down — just what you need before the afternoon leg.
Ride Tips
Skill Level: Suitable for beginners and large adventure bikes.
Watch For: Wildlife at dawn and dusk, and slick clay sections after rain.
